Summer Vacation - Okanagan Camping and Wine Tasting

Some favourite shots of mine from our camping/wine tasting trip to hot, sunny and beautiful Okanagan. We camped just outside of Oliver, BC at an RV park.  Never EVER thought I would do RV camping, but I have to say...the kids love it, our son was biking around until he could barely keep his eyes open.  We had a beach just steps from our site, the neighbors were friendly, and we were near some of our favourite wineries. A few photos below are from our picnic lunch at Rustico Winery; Bruce, the winery owner is seriously the hospitality cowboy!!

We also visited Le Vieux Pin, Burrowing Owl in Oliver, and Stags Hollow in Okanagan Falls. Le Vieux Pin...gorgeous wines, lovely chat in the tasting room, and the kids appreciated the visit to their mini-farm of chickens, roosters and miniature goats.

Summer is almost winding down now and I will be sad to see it go.  Enjoy!

Large Prints and Canvas Gallery Wraps

I am working on some new prints for framing and canvas for our house, it's time to change things up again!  In looking for something for printing a larger print (11x14) for framing or canvas, I found this photo. I was really busy at the time with various projects and I missed this one of my baby girl, so glad I went back looking.   Love the downtown Vancouver background from Spanish Banks beach, awesome! Baby girl is pretty sweet too. ;)

This photo is a great example of a print that will look stunning in a framed print or canvas gallery wrap. For this one I am looking at 11x14, but later I will look for an even larger photo for my front hallway.  My background in Interior Design drives my passion for getting your family photos up on the wall to share. I feel that in this age of digital technology, the photos that will be passed down through families are at risk of being lost, especially photos of artistic merit and those that have special meaning.

As your photographer, I will work with you to choose those photos for large format prints, and where and how to hang in your home.  I provide this home consultation complimentary in your photo package.

Now back to sifting through my family photos....

Summertime Fun

Having a great summer so far; road trips, cabins, visitors, friends, family, good food, and even a tourist in my own town. What more could I ask for....

4Cats Capitol Hill - Parents & Friends Night Out

Recently I spent a Wednesday evening at 4Cats Capitol Hill for a Parent's and Friend's Night Out. My son attends art classes at 4Cats and when Maggie, the Capitol Hill studio curator, told me that she was holding an evening painting class for adults I signed up right away!

Even though I took art, photography, drafting, drawing, and majored in Interior Design in college, I never considered painting "my thing".  So I was a little curious as to how I would do in this class because often painting as an art intimidated me. Especially acrylic paint on canvas, which was on this evenings menu.

I cannot tell you how much FUN this class was!!! Maggie and her team (Dino and Neela) made us feel comfortable and walked us through the process of painting a Georgia O'Keeffe inspired painting.  The teaching process was a wonderful balance of being left to create our own inspired piece while getting little tips and tricks along the way to help us with painting technique etc.

Here are some shots of the evening.  I have to give credit to Maggie for grabbing my camera to take some shots while I was busy painting. So for once, I am in some photos!!!

Thanks to Maggie and her team for a fabulous evening.  A much needed fun night out getting creative!

4Cats Capitol Hill 'Under The Sea' Workshop

Back in March I photographed a workshop at 4Cats Capitol Hill located on Hastings in North Burnaby near Willingdon. I was invited by curator Maggie Murphy to take the photos which are to be featured in the summer issue of the 4Cats Magazine.  The Workshop, called 'Under the Sea', lets kids create an under the sea painting on real canvas with acrylic paint, sand and glitter.  It was amazing to see the whole process unfold and how these kids could make such cool paintings on their own.  Great job kids!

Thanks for inviting me down! Look for the article and some of these photos and an AD for Elle Photography in the summer issue of 4Cats magazine coming soon!

As they say at 4Cats...."Art is Good".
